Spicy Stir-Fried Beef with Scallions
Ingredients:
- For the Beef:
- 1 lb beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- For the Sauce:
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- For the Stir-Fry:
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch ginger, finely chopped
- 1 red chili, thinly sliced (adjust based on heat preference)
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2-3 scallions, cut into 1-inch pieces
- Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Marinate the Beef:
- In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil.
- Add the beef slices, mix well, and let it marinate for 15-20 minutes.
- Prepare the Sauce:
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and water. Set aside.
- Stir-Fry the Beef:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.
- Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until browned (about 2-3 minutes). Remove and set aside.
- Cook the Aromatics:
- In the same pan, add another tablespoon of oil.
- Stir-fry garlic, ginger, and red chili until fragrant (30 seconds).
- Combine Ingredients:
- Add the onion and stir-fry until slightly softened.
- Return the beef to the pan, pour in the sauce, and toss to coat everything evenly.
- Add the scallions and stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes.
- Serve:
- Garnish with more sliced scallions or sesame seeds if desired.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
Tips:
- You can substitute beef with chicken or tofu for variety.
- For extra heat, add crushed chili flakes or another sliced red chili.
