Cheese Donuts Recipe

 

 

Ingredients

  • 200g (1 cup) cottage cheese or ricotta
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Melted butter or egg wash (for brushing)
  • Granulated sugar or shredded cheese (for topping, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough:
    • Mash the cottage cheese or ricotta until smooth.
    • Mix in the egg, sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and knead into a soft dough. If the dough is sticky, dust with a bit more flour.
  2. Shape the donuts:
    • Roll the dough into small balls, flatten them slightly, and use a small round cutter or bottle cap to punch a hole in the center to form a donut shape.
    • Coat a cutting board or tray with sugar (or flour, if preferred) and place the shaped donuts on it.
  3. Bake:
    • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
    • Place the donuts on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
    • Brush the tops with melted butter or egg wash and sprinkle with sugar or cheese if desired.
    • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. Serve:
    • Let the donuts cool slightly, then enjoy warm or at room temperature.
