Ingredients:

  • 500 grams ground meat (beef, pork, or a mix)
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cups beef or vegetable broth
  • 2 bay leaves

Instructions:

Preparing the Meatballs:

  1. Combine the ground meat, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, pepper, and chopped herbs in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly until the ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Form the mixture into small, round meatballs about the size of a golf ball.

Cooking the Meatballs:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until they are browned on all sides, which should take about 5-7 minutes. Remove the meatballs and set aside.
  2. In the same pot, add the broth and bring to a simmer. Scrape the bottom of the pot to incorporate any browned bits into the liquid.
  3. Add the meatballs back into the pot along with the bay leaves. Lower the heat and let the mixture simmer gently for about 20-30 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.

Serving:

  1. Discard the bay leaves.
  2. Serve the meatballs hot, spooning some of the broth over them. This dish can be accompanied by crusty bread or over a bed of cooked rice or pasta.

Conclusion:

This herb-infused meatball recipe is perfect for a comforting meal, providing a hearty and flavorful dish that’s sure to satisfy. The fresh herbs will infuse the meatballs with an irresistible aroma and a depth of flavor, making it a delightful dish for any occasion.
