Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 2 ½ cups (315g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup (180ml) warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Topping:

  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning (or a mix of oregano, basil, and parsley)
  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

For the Dough:

  1. Activate Yeast:
    • In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over it and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Prepare Dough:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until the dough comes together.
  3. Knead:
    • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

For the Breadsticks:

  1. Shape Dough:
    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle about ½ inch thick. Transfer it to a greased or parchment-lined baking tray.
  2. Prepare Topping:
    • Mix the melted butter with minced garlic. Brush it generously over the dough.
  3. Add Cheese:
    • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly over the dough. Add a pinch of Italian seasoning over the cheese.
  4. Slice:
    • Using a pizza cutter or knife, lightly score the dough into strips (do not cut through completely).
  5. Bake:
    • Bake for 18-22 minutes or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
  6. Garnish:
    • Sprinkle with fresh parsley for a burst of color and freshness. Let cool slightly and then fully slice into breadsticks.
