Homemade Butter

 

 

 

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (500ml) heavy cream or whipping cream
  • Ice water (for rinsing)

Instructions:

  1. Churning:
    • Pour the heavy cream into a large bowl or food processor.
    • Beat the cream on medium-high speed. It will first turn into whipped cream, then separate into butter and buttermilk. This can take about 8–10 minutes.
  2. Draining:
    • Once the butter separates, pour the mixture through a strainer to separate the buttermilk. Save the buttermilk for baking or cooking.
  3. Rinsing:
    • Wash the butter with cold ice water to remove any remaining buttermilk. Knead it with a spatula under running cold water until the water runs clear.
  4. Seasoning (Optional):
    • Add salt to taste if you want salted butter. You can also mix in herbs, garlic, or other flavors.
  5. Storage:
    • Shape the butter into a block and store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
