Classic Caramel Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- For the Cake:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- For the Caramel Sauce:
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Preheat and Prepare:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Make the Cake Batter:
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
- Bake the Cake:
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
- Prepare the Caramel Sauce:
- In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar and butter. Cook over medium heat until butter is melted.
- Gradually add heavy cream and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 5 minutes, until thickened, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
- Assemble the Cake:
- Once the cake is cool, pour the warm caramel sauce over the cake. Allow the sauce to set slightly before serving.
- Serve:
