Skillet Mozzarella Meatballs
Ingredients:
- 500g ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil for garnish
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) for baking later.
- Mix Meatball Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Parmesan, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is well combined but be careful not to overmix.
- Form Meatballs: Shape the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs.
- Brown Meatballs: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and brown them on all sides. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
- Add Marinara Sauce: Pour the marinara sauce over the browned meatballs in the skillet. Allow the sauce to heat up and simmer for a few minutes.
- Add Cheese and Bake: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the meatballs and sauce. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Serve hot, perhaps with a side of pasta, crusty bread, or a green salad.
