Creamy Beef Stroganoff Pasta

 

 

 

Ingredients:

For the Pasta:

  • 12 oz (340g) rotini, fusilli, or your favorite pasta
  • Salt (for boiling water)

For the Beef Sauce:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For Garnish:

  • Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Black pepper (freshly cracked)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Pasta:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Cook the Beef:
    • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat if necessary.
    • Add the chopped onion and garlic to the beef and cook for 3–4 minutes, until softened.
  3. Create the Sauce:
    • Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture and stir well to coat. Cook for 1–2 minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste.
    • Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring to create a smooth sauce.
    • Stir in the heavy cream, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for 5–7 minutes until it thickens.
  4. Combine with Pasta:
    • Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the creamy beef sauce. Toss until the pasta is fully coated.
  5. Serve:
    • Plate the pasta and garnish with fresh parsley and a sprinkle of black pepper.
    • Optional: Drizzle additional sour cream or cream over the top for extra creaminess.

Optional Additions:

  • Mushrooms: Sauté 1 cup of sliced mushrooms with the onions and garlic for an earthy flavor.
  • Cheese: Stir in 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan or cheddar cheese before serving for extra richness.
  • Spice: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
