Chocolate Biscuit Bars Recipe

Ingredients

  • For the biscuit base:
    • 300g (10.5 oz) tea biscuits or digestive cookies, crushed into small pieces
    • 100g (1/2 cup) unsalted butter
    • 100g (1/2 cup) granulated sugar
    • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • 100g (3.5 oz) chopped nuts (e.g., hazelnuts, almonds, or walnuts) (optional)
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the chocolate coating:
    • 200g (7 oz) milk chocolate, melted
    • 50g (1.75 oz) chopped nuts or crushed peanuts (for coating, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the biscuit mixture:
    • Crush the biscuits into small pieces (but not into powder) and place them in a large mixing bowl. Add the chopped nuts if using.
    • In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter, sugar, and cocoa powder together, stirring until smooth.
    • Add the milk and vanilla extract to the mixture and stir until well combined. Remove from heat.
  2. Combine:
    • Pour the chocolate mixture over the crushed biscuits and mix well until all the pieces are evenly coated.
  3. Shape the bars:
    • Transfer the mixture onto a sheet of parchment paper or cling film. Shape it into a rectangular block or log, pressing it firmly to remove air gaps.
    • Wrap tightly and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
  4. Coat with chocolate:
    • Once the biscuit block is firm, slice it into bars or desired shapes.
    • Melt the milk chocolate in a microwave or over a double boiler. Dip each bar into the melted chocolate, ensuring they are fully coated.
    • If desired, sprinkle the chopped nuts or crushed peanuts over the bars before the chocolate sets.
  5. Chill and serve:
    • Place the coated bars on a tray lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate until the chocolate hardens.
    • Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Tips and Variations

  • Add flavors: Incorporate dried fruits like raisins or cranberries for a chewy texture.
  • Dark chocolate option: Use dark chocolate for a richer flavor.
  • Store: Keep the bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

This easy no-bake recipe is perfect for satisfying your chocolate cravings and makes an excellent treat for sharing. Enjoy!
