Perfect Homemade Sausage Rolls Recipe

 

 

 

Ingredients:

  • 500g sausage meat or minced beef
  • 1 packet of puff pastry (pre-rolled or block, thawed if frozen)
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional seasonings: garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, or dried herbs
  • Sesame seeds or black seeds (optional, for topping)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Filling:
    • Mix sausage meat with salt, pepper, and any optional seasonings. Ensure it’s evenly combined.
  2. Prepare the Puff Pastry:
    • Roll out the puff pastry (if needed) and cut it into rectangular strips.
  3. Assemble the Rolls:
    • Place a portion of the meat mixture along the center of each pastry strip.
    • Fold the pastry over the filling and seal by pressing the edges together. Use a fork for a decorative seal, if desired.
  4. Cut and Shape:
    • Slice into smaller roll sizes as preferred.
  5. Egg Wash & Topping:
    • Brush the tops of the rolls with beaten egg for a golden finish.
    • Sprinkle sesame seeds or black seeds for added texture and flavor (optional).
  6. Bake:
    • Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
    • Arrange rolls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
    • Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and flaky, and the filling is cooked through.
  7. Serve:
    • Let cool slightly before serving. Pair with your favorite dips like ketchup, mustard, or a spicy chili sauce.
