Pasta with Meat Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pound farfalle pasta
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon sugar (optional, to balance acidity)
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
Instructions:
- Cook the Pasta:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the farfalle according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving some pasta water for later.
- Make the Meat Sauce:
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet. Break it apart with a spoon and cook until browned and no longer pink.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar (if using), basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer the sauce for 20-30 minutes, letting the flavors meld. If the sauce thickens too much, adjust the consistency with the reserved pasta water.
- Combine Pasta and Sauce:
- Toss the cooked pasta with the meat sauce until evenly coated.
- Serve:
- Serve the pasta hot, garnished with chopped parsley and grated Parmesan cheese.
