Creamy Fruit Custard Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups mixed fruits (pineapple, apple, mango, cherries, grapes, or canned fruit cocktail)
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons custard powder (vanilla flavor works best)
- 3 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 cup condensed milk (optional, for richness)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons basil seeds (optional, soaked in water)
- 1/4 cup colored jelly cubes (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Custard:
- In a small bowl, mix the custard powder with 3-4 tablespoons of cold milk until smooth and lump-free.
- Heat the remaining milk in a saucepan over medium heat and add sugar. Stir until dissolved.
- Slowly pour the custard mixture into the hot milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
- Cook for 3-5 minutes until the mixture thickens to a custard consistency. Remove from heat.
- Stir in vanilla extract and let it cool completely. To prevent a skin from forming, cover it with plastic wrap.
- Prepare the Fruits:
- Chop the mixed fruits into small pieces.
- If using canned fruits or jelly, drain the syrup and chop the jelly into cubes.
- Combine:
- Once the custard has cooled, mix in the condensed milk for extra creaminess (optional).
- Add the chopped fruits and soaked basil seeds into the custard. Gently fold everything together.
- Chill and Serve:
- Refrigerate the custard mixture for at least 1-2 hours to chill thoroughly.
- Serve in individual cups or bowls, garnished with colorful jelly cubes or extra fruits.
Tips:
- Use seasonal fruits like mango, banana, kiwi, or strawberries for added flavor.
- Avoid watery fruits like watermelon, as they can dilute the custard.
- For added texture, you can mix in nuts, such as cashews or almonds.
- Basil seeds add a unique texture and cooling effect but can be skipped.
