- 1/2 lb (225g) ground pork (for extra flavor)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder π§
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder π§
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika πΆοΈ
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

- 4 slices cheddar cheese π§
- 4 slices sourdough or Texas toast bread π
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened π§
- 1/2 cup caramelized onions (optional) π§
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the patties: In a bowl, mix ground beef, ground pork, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
- Cook the patties: In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side or until fully cooked through. Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
- Prepare the bread: While the patties cook, butter one side of each bread slice.
- Assemble the melts: On the unbuttered side of two slices of bread, add a patty, a layer of caramelized onions (if using), and a drizzle of Dijon mustard (optional). Top with the other slices of bread, buttered side facing out.
- Grill the melts: Heat a skillet over medium heat and grill each patty melt for 3-4 minutes per side, pressing down slightly with a spatula until the bread is golden brown and crispy.
- Serve: Slice in half and serve warm with pickles or fries on the side!
π‘ Tip: Swap the cheddar cheese for Swiss or American for a different twist!
