Texas Toast Sloppy Joes
Ingredients
1 small onion, roasted (about 1 cup)
1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey or chicken)
1 cup barbecue sauce (I use Sweet Baby Ray’s Sweet and Spicy)
6 slices Texas toast
1 water cup grated cheddar cheese
Instructions
Cut 1 small onion into small pieces. Add the onion and 1 pound of ground beef (or ground beef or chicken) to a large skillet. Cook over medium heat until the meat is browned and the onions are soft and tender, about 5-7 minutes. Drain off excess oil.
Add 1 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce to the cooked beef and onions. I use Sweet Baby Ray’s Sweet and Spicy BBQ Sauce because I like it a little spicier, but use your favorite sauce! Mix well to coat the meat thoroughly.
Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and place 6 slices of Texas Toast and cooled garlic bread on it. Cook for 5-8 minutes until soft.
Remove the cooked garlic bread from the oven. Spoon Joe mixture onto each piece of garlic bread, spreading evenly. Top each joe with shredded cheddar cheese.
Return the wrapped portions to the oven and bake for 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts.
Remove from oven and serve immediately.
Enjoy! ❤️
