- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

For the Herb and Cheese Topping:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Add the warm milk, melted butter, and egg, and beat until smooth.
- Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Shape the Rolls:
- Punch down the risen dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.
- Place the dough balls close together on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Prepare the Topping:
- In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley.
- Brush the tops of the dough balls with the butter mixture.
- Sprinkle the grated Parmesan and shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough balls.
- Bake the Rolls:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Let the rolls rise for about 15 minutes while the oven preheats.
- Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve:
- Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
- Serve warm, allowing everyone to pull apart their own roll.
