Perfect Baked Potatoes Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 large russet potatoes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Sea salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Fresh chives, chopped, for garnish
Instructions:
- Prepare the Potatoes:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Scrub the potatoes thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt. Pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
- Poke each potato several times with a fork to create small holes that allow steam to escape during baking.
- Season the Potatoes:
- Rub each potato with olive oil to coat evenly. Sprinkle generously with sea salt, making sure the salt sticks to the oil-coated skin.
- Bake the Potatoes:
- Place the potatoes directly on the middle oven rack. You can place a baking sheet on the lower rack to catch any drips.
- Bake for about 50-60 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the skins are crispy. To check for doneness, insert a fork or knife into the center of a potato; it should slide in easily.
- Serve:
- Remove the potatoes from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
- Using a knife, make a lengthwise slit down the center of each potato. Gently squeeze the ends to open up the potato.
- Add a tablespoon of butter to each potato, letting it melt into the fluffy interior. Season with black pepper to taste.
- Garnish with chopped fresh chives.
