Ingredients:

  • For the Brownie Layer:
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • For the Cheesecake Swirl:
    • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
    • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 egg
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Oven and Pan:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing some to overhang for easy removal.
  2. Make the Brownie Batter:
    • Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
    • Beat in cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  3. Make the Cheesecake Mixture:
    • In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese with sugar until smooth. Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat until creamy and well combined.
  4. Create the Swirls:
    • Drop spoonfuls of the cheesecake mixture on top of the brownie batter. Use a knife to swirl the cheesecake mixture into the brownie batter, creating a marbled effect.
  5. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with only a few moist crumbs. The cheesecake should be just set and slightly golden at the edges.
  6. Cool and Serve:
    • Allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack before lifting out using the overhanging parchment paper. Cut into squares once completely cooled.
