Cheesy Beef Pasta Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 ounces rotini pasta
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Optional: red pepper flakes for a bit of heat
Instructions:
- Cook the Pasta:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the rotini pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Cook the Beef:
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the Sauce:
- Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. If you like a bit of spice, add red pepper flakes to taste.
- Let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Combine Pasta and Sauce:
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the beef and sauce. Stir until the pasta is well coated with the sauce.
- Add the Cheese:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Transfer the pasta mixture to a large baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses evenly over the top.
- Bake:
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve:
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
