Perfect Soft-Boiled Eggs Recipe

 

Ingredients:

  • Eggs (as many as you need)
  • Water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Water:
    • Fill a medium saucepan with enough water to cover the eggs by about an inch. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Cook the Eggs:
    • Once the water is boiling, gently lower the eggs into the boiling water using a spoon.
    • Reduce the heat to maintain a gentle boil and cook the eggs for exactly 6 minutes for a runny yolk. If you prefer a slightly firmer yolk, cook for 6.5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Cool the Eggs:
    • While the eggs are cooking, prepare a bowl of ice water.
    • After the eggs have cooked for the desired time, use a spoon to transfer them immediately to the ice water. Let them cool for about 2-3 minutes. This stops the cooking process and makes them easier to peel.
  4. Peel the Eggs:
    • Gently tap the eggs on a hard surface to crack the shell, then carefully peel away the shell under running water to help remove any stubborn bits of shell.
  5. Serve:
    • Slice the eggs in half and season with salt and pepper to taste. You can also drizzle a bit of olive oil on top for extra flavor if desired.
