Perfect Soft-Boiled Eggs Recipe
Ingredients:
- Eggs (as many as you need)
- Water
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Prepare the Water:
- Fill a medium saucepan with enough water to cover the eggs by about an inch. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Cook the Eggs:
- Once the water is boiling, gently lower the eggs into the boiling water using a spoon.
- Reduce the heat to maintain a gentle boil and cook the eggs for exactly 6 minutes for a runny yolk. If you prefer a slightly firmer yolk, cook for 6.5 to 7 minutes.
- Cool the Eggs:
- While the eggs are cooking, prepare a bowl of ice water.
- After the eggs have cooked for the desired time, use a spoon to transfer them immediately to the ice water. Let them cool for about 2-3 minutes. This stops the cooking process and makes them easier to peel.
- Peel the Eggs:
- Gently tap the eggs on a hard surface to crack the shell, then carefully peel away the shell under running water to help remove any stubborn bits of shell.
- Serve:
- Slice the eggs in half and season with salt and pepper to taste. You can also drizzle a bit of olive oil on top for extra flavor if desired.
