Classic Peach Cobbler Recipe

 

Ingredients:

For the Batter:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

For the Peach Filling:

  • 4 cups fresh or canned peach slices (drained if using canned)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Oven and Pan:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Pour the melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Make the Batter:
    • In a medium bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
    • Gradually add the milk to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
    • Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish. Do not stir.
  3. Prepare the Peach Filling:
    • In a large bowl, combine the peach slices, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Mix well.
    • Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter. Do not stir.
  4. Bake the Cobbler:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the batter has risen around the peaches.
  5. Serve:
    • Allow the cobbler to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.
