Phyllo-Wrapped Shrimp

Ingredients:

  • 20 large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails left on)
  • 1 package phyllo dough (thawed according to package instructions)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon white sesame seeds
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Shrimp:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • In a bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  2. Prepare the Phyllo Dough:
    • Unroll the phyllo dough and cover it with a damp cloth to prevent it from drying out. Take one sheet of phyllo dough and brush it lightly with melted butter. Place another sheet on top and brush it with butter as well. Repeat with one more sheet, making a stack of three sheets.
    • Cut the stacked phyllo sheets into strips about 2 inches wide.
  3. Wrap the Shrimp:
    • Place a shrimp at the end of each phyllo strip and roll it up, leaving the tail exposed. Place the wrapped shrimp on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining shrimp and phyllo strips.
  4. Brush with Butter:
    • Brush the phyllo-wrapped shrimp with more melted butter. Sprinkle black and white sesame seeds over the top for garnish.
  5. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the phyllo is golden brown and crispy and the shrimp is cooked through.
  6. Serve:
    • Arrange the phyllo-wrapped shrimp on a serving platter. Garnish with fresh rosemary sprigs if desired.

Tips:

  • You can serve these delicious shrimp with a dipping sauce, such as sweet chili sauce or garlic aioli.
  • Be sure to keep the phyllo dough covered with a damp cloth while working to prevent it from drying out and becoming brittle.

Enjoy your elegant and tasty phyllo-wrapped shrimp!
