Chocolate Nut Bars with Chocolate Drizzle
Ingredients:
- For the bars:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or almonds)
- For the topping:
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions:
- Prepare the Bars:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and melted butter until well combined.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture and mix until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped nuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
- Bake the Bars:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let cool completely in the baking dish.
- Prepare the Topping:
- Sprinkle the chopped nuts evenly over the cooled bars.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and vegetable oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
- Drizzle the melted chocolate over the bars.
- Serve:
- Allow the chocolate drizzle to set before cutting the bars into squares.
