Jalapeño Cheddar Pull-Apart Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F/43°C)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

For the Filling:

  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2-3 jalapeños, thinly sliced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
    • In a separate bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
    • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  2. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and minced garlic.
    • Combine the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses in another bowl.
  3. Assemble the Bread:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
    • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to a large rectangle (about 12×18 inches).
    • Brush the dough generously with the garlic butter. Sprinkle the shredded cheese mixture evenly over the dough, followed by the sliced jalapeños.
    • Cut the dough into equal-sized squares (about 3×3 inches). Stack the squares on top of each other and place them in the prepared loaf pan, side by side.
    • Cover the loaf and let it rise for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  4. Bake the Bread:
    • Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
    • If the top browns too quickly, cover the loaf with aluminum foil during the last 10 minutes of baking.
  5. Garnish and Serve:
    • Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and let it cool slightly in the pan before removing it.
    • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve the bread warm, allowing everyone to pull apart the cheesy, spicy layers.

This Jalapeño Cheddar Pull-Apart Bread is the perfect blend of cheesy goodness and spicy heat, making it an irresistible treat for any occasion.
