Cheesy Bacon Puff Pastry Biscuits

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a cheese blend)
  • 4-5 strips cooked bacon, chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (optional, for seasoning)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for seasoning)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Puff Pastry:
    • On a lightly floured surface, unfold the puff pastry sheet. Use a rolling pin to gently roll it out to even out the creases and make it slightly thinner.
    • Using a round cookie cutter (about 2-3 inches in diameter), cut out circles of puff pastry. You should get about 8-10 circles depending on the size of your cutter.
  3. Layer the Pastry:
    • If you want thicker, more layered biscuits, stack two circles of puff pastry on top of each other and press down lightly. This will create 4-5 double-layered biscuits.
    • Place the puff pastry circles on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Add the Toppings:
    • Brush the top of each puff pastry circle with the beaten egg (this helps the toppings stick and gives the pastry a golden color).
    • Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheddar cheese on top of each circle.
    • Add a few pieces of chopped bacon on top of the cheese.
    • If desired, sprinkle a little black pepper and garlic powder over the top for extra flavor.
  5. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve:
    • Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool slightly on the baking sheet before serving.
    • These cheesy bacon puff pastry biscuits are best enjoyed warm and fresh.

Tips:

  • Cheese Variations: Feel free to use other types of cheese like mozzarella, Swiss, or Gouda for different flavor profiles.
  • Additional Toppings: You can also add chopped green onions or a sprinkle of herbs like thyme or rosemary for added flavor.
  • Make Ahead: These biscuits can be assembled ahead of time and stored in the fridge until ready to bake.

These cheesy bacon puff pastry biscuits are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a savory snack. They are flaky, buttery, and packed with flavor—sure to be a hit with everyone!
