Ingredients:

  • 2 cups butterscotch chips
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Pan:
    • Line an 8×8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides for easy removal later. Set aside.
  2. Melt the Ingredients:
    • In a medium saucepan, combine the butterscotch chips, sweetened condensed milk, and unsalted butter.
    • Place the saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until the butterscotch chips are completely melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy.
    • Be careful not to overheat, as this can cause the mixture to seize.
  3. Add Flavorings:
    • Once the mixture is smooth, remove the saucepan from the heat.
    • Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt until fully incorporated.
  4. Pour and Set:
    • Pour the warm mixture into the prepared baking dish.
    • Smooth the top with a spatula to ensure an even layer.
  5. Chill:
    • Refrigerate the fudge for at least 2 hours, or until it is firm to the touch.
  6. Cut and Serve:
    • Once the fudge is set, lift it out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang.
    • Place the fudge on a cutting board and cut it into squares.
  7. Store:
    • Store the fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.
