Butterscotch Fudge Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups butterscotch chips
- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Prepare the Pan:
- Line an 8×8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides for easy removal later. Set aside.
- Melt the Ingredients:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the butterscotch chips, sweetened condensed milk, and unsalted butter.
- Place the saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until the butterscotch chips are completely melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Be careful not to overheat, as this can cause the mixture to seize.
- Add Flavorings:
- Once the mixture is smooth, remove the saucepan from the heat.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt until fully incorporated.
- Pour and Set:
- Pour the warm mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Smooth the top with a spatula to ensure an even layer.
- Chill:
- Refrigerate the fudge for at least 2 hours, or until it is firm to the touch.
- Cut and Serve:
- Once the fudge is set, lift it out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang.
- Place the fudge on a cutting board and cut it into squares.
- Store:
- Store the fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.
Notes:
- Variations: You can add a variety of toppings or mix-ins to the fudge before chilling. Consider adding chopped nuts, a swirl of melted chocolate, or a sprinkle of sea salt on top.
- Serving Tip: This fudge pairs wonderfully with a cup of coffee or tea and makes a great homemade gift during the holidays.
