Spicy Garlic Okra

 

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams okra, washed and trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 small hot chili peppers, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the okra:
    • Cut the okra into 1-inch pieces or leave them whole if they are small.
  2. Cook the okra:
    • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add the okra and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they are lightly browned and tender. Remove the okra from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the sauce:
    • In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium.
    • Add the minced garlic, chili peppers, and ginger. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until aromatic.
    • Mix in the soy sauce, honey, fish sauce, and lime juice. Bring to a simmer and let the sauce thicken slightly.
  4. Combine okra and sauce:
    • Return the okra to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce. Cook for another minute to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Serve:
    • Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped cilantro over the okra.
    • Serve hot as a side dish or over rice for a complete meal.
