Ingredients:

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • Measure out all the ingredients. Have the peanut butter and optional vanilla extract ready for later use.
  2. Cook Sugar Mixture:
    • In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, unsalted butter, and whole milk.
    • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
    • Once boiling, continue to stir and cook for about 2 to 3 minutes until the mixture reaches a soft-ball stage (235°F to 240°F on a candy thermometer).
  3. Add Peanut Butter and Vanilla:
    • Remove the saucepan from the heat.
    • Quickly stir in the creamy peanut butter and the vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
  4. Set the Fudge:
    • Pour the fudge mixture into a greased 8-inch square baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
    • Smooth the top with a spatula.
  5. Cool and Cut:
    • Allow the fudge to cool at room temperature until set. This may take several hours. You can also refrigerate it to speed up the setting process.
    • Once set, cut into small squares.
