Amish Burger Recipe with Onions and Sauce
As soon as this recipe caught my attention, I knew I had to try it. And I can tell you, I was not disappointed. Delicious!
Ingredients:
2 pounds ground beef
1 1/2 cups crumbled crackers (about 1 package)
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon Italian herbs
1/2 teaspoon each onion powder and garlic powder
1 large onion, sliced Cut into rings
Flour for dredging
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
For the sauce:
1 1/2 cups milk
2 cans (10.75 oz.each) Cream of Mushroom or Onion Soup

Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F) and lightly grease a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
Place the onion rings on the bottom of the prepared plate and season lightly with salt and pepper.
In a bowl, combine ground beef, crumbled crackers, 1 cup milk, Italian herbs, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Form 1/2 inch thick patties from the mixture and lightly coat with flour.Fry the burgers in a pan over medium-high heat and then place them on top of the onion rings in the baking dish.
Stir 1 1/2 cups milk and soup until smooth. Pour this sauce mixture over the hamburger steaks, making sure the onions are well coated.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for about 30 minutes or until the fillets are cooked through and the sauce bubbles and thickens.
