Baked Ham and Cheese Rolls
Ingredients:
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 8 slices of deli ham
- 8 slices of Swiss or cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise (optional)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds or sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Pastry:
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to smooth out any creases.
- Cut the pastry into 8 equal rectangles.
- Assemble the Rolls:
- Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard and mayonnaise on each pastry rectangle (optional).
- Place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese on each rectangle.
- Roll up each pastry from one end to the other, enclosing the ham and cheese.
- Place each roll seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Add Finishing Touches:
- Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg to give them a golden finish.
- Sprinkle with poppy seeds or sesame seeds if desired.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Serve:
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. These rolls are perfect as appetizers or a tasty snack.
