Cheesy Baked Ham and Cheese Sandwiches
Ingredients:
- Sliced bread (8 slices)
- Ham (4 slices, thinly sliced)
- Cheese (8 slices, such as Swiss, cheddar, or mozzarella)
- Grated cheese (1 cup, for topping)
- Butter (4 tablespoons, softened)
- Eggs (2)
- Milk (1/2 cup)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Optional garnish: Chopped parsley or herbs
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Assemble the Sandwiches:
- Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese between two slices of bread (buttered sides facing out). Repeat for all sandwiches.
- Prepare the Topping Mixture:
- In a bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until combined.
- Add Toppings:
- Place the sandwiches on the prepared baking tray.
- Brush the egg mixture on top of each sandwich.
- Sprinkle grated cheese generously over the tops of the sandwiches.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Serve:
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
- Garnish with parsley or herbs if desired and serve warm.
