Cheesy Breadsticks Recipe
Ingredients:
- Dough:
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- Topping:
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir to dissolve and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- Add the olive oil, flour, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Topping:
- In a small bowl, combine the melted butter and minced garlic. Set aside.
- Shape the Dough:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out onto a parchment-lined baking sheet to about 1/2-inch thickness.
- Brush the dough with the garlic butter mixture.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the dough.
- Sprinkle the dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper over the cheese.
- Bake the Breadsticks:
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the dough are golden brown.
- Serve:
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
- Cut the cheesy bread into sticks or squares and serve warm.
