Cheesy Flatbread Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional for extra flavor)
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 clove garlic, minced (optional for garlic butter)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.
- Gradually add the warm water and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- Roll Out the Dough:
- Divide the dough into 4 equal portions.
- Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten it into a thin, round flatbread.
- Assemble the Flatbread:
- Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Place one flatbread on the skillet and cook for about 2 minutes on each side, until lightly browned.
- Sprinkle a generous amount of mozzarella cheese (and cheddar cheese, if using) over half of the flatbread.
- Fold the flatbread in half to cover the cheese and press down gently.
- Cook the Cheesy Flatbread:
- Cook the folded flatbread for an additional 2-3 minutes on each side, until the cheese is melted and the flatbread is golden brown and crispy.
- Repeat the process with the remaining flatbreads.
- Garlic Butter (Optional):
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with the minced garlic.
- Brush the garlic butter over the hot, cooked flatbreads for extra flavor.
- Serve:
- Cut the cheesy flatbreads into strips or wedges.
- Serve hot and enjoy the gooey, cheesy goodness!
