Cheesy Ground Beef and Onion Casserole Recipe

 

Ingredients:

  • For the Casserole:
    • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
    • 1 large onion, finely chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
    • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
    • 1/2 cup sour cream
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 package (16 oz) frozen tater tots

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Beef and Onions:
    • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent and the garlic is fragrant. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Prepare the Mixture:
    • In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef and onion mixture with the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Assemble the Casserole:
    • Spray the inside of a slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray. Spread half of the frozen tater tots in an even layer on the bottom of the slow cooker.
    • Pour the beef and onion mixture over the tater tots, spreading it evenly.
    • Top with the remaining tater tots and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  4. Cook the Casserole:
    • Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours, or until the tater tots are crispy and the casserole is heated through.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve the cheesy ground beef and onion casserole hot. It pairs well with a simple green salad or steamed vegetables.
