Ingredients

  • 6 large potatoes (peeled and thinly sliced)

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 cup milk

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp paprika (optional)

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.

  2. Layer the potatoes: Arrange a layer of thinly sliced potatoes in the bottom of the baking dish.

  3. Prepare the cheese sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Add the heavy cream, milk, salt, and pepper. Stir and bring to a simmer.

  4. Assemble: Pour a portion of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle with cheddar cheese. Repeat the layers until all potatoes and cheese are used.

  5. Top with Parmesan: If using, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top for extra flavor.

  6. Bake: Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is golden and bubbly.
