Chocolate Brigadeiro Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cans (14 oz or 395g each) sweetened condensed milk
- 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (sifted)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (plus more for greasing)
- A pinch of salt (optional)
- Chocolate sprinkles or chopped nuts for coating
Instructions:
- Cook the Brigadeiro Mixture:
- In a nonstick pan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder, butter, and a pinch of salt.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon or spatula.
- Stir until the mixture thickens and begins to pull away from the sides and bottom of the pan (about 10-12 minutes).
- Cool the Mixture:
- Remove from the heat and transfer the mixture to a greased plate or dish.
- Let it cool to room temperature. For faster cooling, refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
- Shape the Balls:
- Grease your hands lightly with butter to prevent sticking.
- Scoop small portions of the mixture (about 1 tablespoon each) and roll them into smooth balls.
- Coat the Brigadeiros:
- Roll the balls in chocolate sprinkles or finely chopped nuts to coat evenly.
- Place them in small paper liners or on a tray.
- Chill (Optional):
- Refrigerate for 10-15 minutes to firm up before serving.
