Chocolate Frosted Brownies

 

Ingredients:

For the Brownies:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat and Prepare:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Make the Brownie Batter:
    • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
    • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.
  3. Bake the Brownies:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
    • Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.
  4. Prepare the Frosting:
    • In a medium mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
    • Gradually add the cocoa powder and mix until well combined.
    • Slowly add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, alternating with the milk. Beat until smooth and creamy.
    • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Frost the Brownies:
    • Once the brownies have cooled, spread the frosting evenly over the top.
    • Cut into squares and enjoy!
