Churros with Strawberries and Whipped Cream
Ingredients:
Churros:
- 1 cup water
- 2 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Oil for frying
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon (for coating)
Toppings:
- 1 pint fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 cup whipped cream
- Strawberry syrup (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Churros:
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Remove from heat and stir in the flour until the mixture forms a ball.
- Heat oil for frying in a deep-fryer or deep skillet to 375°F (190°C).
- Spoon the dough into a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip.
- Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil. Fry until golden; drain on paper towels.
- Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish. Roll the churros in the sugar mixture while still warm.
- Assemble the Dessert:
- Arrange the churros on a serving plate or in a serving dish.
- Add a generous amount of sliced strawberries over the churros.
- Drizzle with strawberry syrup, if using.
- Add a dollop of whipped cream on the side or on top of the churros.
- Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
