Classic Butter Cake
Ingredients:
- 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups (300g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs, at room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 3/4 cups (350g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk, at room temperature
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Cream Butter and Sugar:
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy and smooth, about 2 minutes.
- Gradually add the granulated sugar and continue beating until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add Eggs and Vanilla:
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Combine Dry Ingredients:
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add Dry Ingredients and Milk:
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix just until combined after each addition.
- Bake the Cake:
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Serve:
- Once the cake is completely cool, you can serve it as is or with a dusting of powdered sugar. It’s also delicious with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
