“Classic Churros with Cinnamon Sugar”
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 2 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Oil for frying
- 1/2 cup white sugar, or to taste
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Equipment:
- Large saucepan
- Wooden spoon
- Deep skillet or frying pan
- Slotted spoon
- Piping bag with a large star tip
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine water, 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
- Stir in flour until mixture forms a ball.
- Heat the Oil:
- Heat oil for frying in a deep skillet over medium-high heat to 375°F (190°C).
- Pipe the Churros:
- Spoon the dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors to the desired length.
- Fry until golden; drain on paper towels.
- Cinnamon Sugar:
- Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish. Roll drained churros in cinnamon sugar while still hot.
- Serve:
- Enjoy your churros fresh and hot, optionally with a side of chocolate sauce for dipping.
