Classic Pancake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
 - 2 tablespoons sugar
 - 1 teaspoon baking powder
 - 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
 - 1 cup buttermilk (or regular milk with a tablespoon of vinegar)
 - 1 large egg
 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
 - Butter or oil for cooking
 
Instructions:
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
 - Mix Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
 - Combine: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The batter should be slightly lumpy; do not over-mix.
 - Preheat Pan: Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease with butter or oil.
 - Cook Pancakes: Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook until golden brown on the other side, about 1-2 minutes more.
 - Serve: Serve warm with your choice of toppings, such as maple syrup, fresh fruit, or whipped cream.
 
Variations:
- Banana Pancakes: Add 1 mashed banana to the wet ingredients.
 - Blueberry Pancakes: Fold 1/2 cup of fresh or frozen blueberries into the batter.
 - Chocolate Chip Pancakes: Stir 1/4 cup of chocolate chips into the batter.
