  • 10g instant yeast
  • 10g salt
  • 50g sugar
  • 300ml warm milk
  • 50g melted butter
  • Egg wash (1 beaten egg)
  • Sesame seeds for topping

Instructions:

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients: Make a well in the center, add warm milk and melted butter.
  3. Knead: Mix until the dough comes together, then knead on a lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
  4. First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Shape: Knock back the dough, then divide into equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and arrange in a baking tray.

  8. Egg Wash and Sesame Seeds: Brush the rolls with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  9. Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Cool: Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack.

Fruit and Nut Bread Rolls

Ingredients:

  • Ingredients from the classic recipe
  • 100g dried fruits (raisins, cranberries)
  • 50g chopped nuts (walnuts, almonds)

Instructions:

  1. Follow the classic recipe steps 1-4.
  2. Add Fruits and Nuts: After the first rise, knock back the dough and knead in dried fruits and nuts.
  3. Continue with steps 5-10 of the classic recipe.

Both recipes are perfect for breakfast or as a snack, and they pair wonderfully with butter, jams, or even as a side to a meal. The addition of fruits and nuts in the second recipe offers a delightful texture and flavor contrast, making it a special treat for occasions or when you’re in the mood for something different.
