Crispy Cheese Croquettes
Ingredients:
- Cheese Filling:
- 250g mozzarella cheese (cut into sticks or blocks)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped, optional)
- Coating:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs (beaten)
- 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- For Frying:
- Vegetable oil for deep frying
Instructions:
- Prepare the Cheese:
- Cut mozzarella cheese into sticks or rectangular blocks, as seen in the image.
- Optional: Sprinkle the cheese with parsley for added flavor.
- Set Up Coating Stations:
- Place flour in one shallow bowl.
- Beat eggs in another bowl.
- Mix breadcrumbs, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a third bowl.
- Coat the Cheese:
- Roll each cheese stick in flour, ensuring it is evenly coated.
- Dip it into the beaten egg, then roll in breadcrumbs. For an extra crispy coating, repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps.
- Chill:
- Place the coated cheese sticks on a tray and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This helps prevent the cheese from melting too quickly during frying.
- Fry:
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the cheese sticks in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2–3 minutes.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve:
- Serve hot with marinara sauce, ranch dip, or your favorite condiment for dipping.
