Ingredients:

For the Chicken Wings:

  • 2 lbs (900g) chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)

For the Honey BBQ Sauce:

  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional for a smoky flavor)

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. Lightly oil the rack to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare the Chicken Wings:
    • Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. This helps them become crispy when baked.
    • In a large bowl, toss the wings with baking powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. The baking powder helps to achieve a crispy skin.
  3. Bake the Wings:
    • Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared wire rack.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, then flip the wings and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the wings are crispy and golden brown.
  4. Make the Honey BBQ Sauce:
    • While the wings are baking, prepare the honey BBQ sauce.
    • In a small saucepan, combine the BBQ sauce, honey, butter, apple cider vinegar, and smoked paprika (if using).
    • Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is smooth and heated through, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Coat the Wings:
    • Once the wings are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly.
    • Toss the wings in the warm honey BBQ sauce until they are well coated.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the wings hot, garnished with chopped chives or parsley if desired.
    • Enjoy with a side of ranch or blue cheese dressing and some celery sticks.
