Detroit-Style Pizza Recipe
Ingredients:
For the dough:
- 3 1/4 cups bread flour
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp kosher salt
- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
- 1 1/4 cups warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
For the toppings:
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
- 12-16 slices of pepperoni (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
Mix the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a bowl. Add water and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms. Knead for 5-7 minutes. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 2 hours. - Shape and Rest:
Grease a 9×13-inch pan with olive oil. Spread the dough to the edges of the pan. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes. - Preheat Oven:
Preheat to 500°F (260°C). - Assemble the Pizza:
Spread the mozzarella cheese all the way to the edges to create a crispy crust. Add the pizza sauce in dollops on top of the cheese. Add pepperoni if desired. - Bake:
Bake the pizza for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and the edges are golden and crispy. - Cool and Serve:
Let it cool for 5 minutes before slicing into squares. Enjoy!
