Ingredients:

  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 8 oz thinly sliced ham
  • 8 oz sliced Swiss or mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional, for brushing)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the dough:
    • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, approximately 12×16 inches.
  3. Layer the fillings:
    • If using mustard, spread it evenly over the dough, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges.
    • Layer the sliced ham evenly over the dough, followed by the cheese slices. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
  4. Roll the dough:
    • Starting from one of the longer sides, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Pinch the edges to seal the stromboli, and tuck the ends under to secure the fillings.
  5. Prepare for baking:
    • Place the rolled stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top with the beaten egg to give it a nice golden color when baked. You can also brush with olive oil for extra flavor.
    • Sprinkle the Italian seasoning over the top of the stromboli.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the stromboli is golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Serve:
    • Allow the stromboli to cool for a few minutes before slicing it into portions. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
    • Serve warm, with a side of marinara sauce or a creamy dip if desired.
