Ham and Cheese Stromboli
Ingredients:
- 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 8 oz thinly sliced ham
- 8 oz sliced Swiss or mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp olive oil (optional, for brushing)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the dough:
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, approximately 12×16 inches.
- Layer the fillings:
- If using mustard, spread it evenly over the dough, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges.
- Layer the sliced ham evenly over the dough, followed by the cheese slices. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
- Roll the dough:
- Starting from one of the longer sides, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Pinch the edges to seal the stromboli, and tuck the ends under to secure the fillings.
- Prepare for baking:
- Place the rolled stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top with the beaten egg to give it a nice golden color when baked. You can also brush with olive oil for extra flavor.
- Sprinkle the Italian seasoning over the top of the stromboli.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the stromboli is golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve:
- Allow the stromboli to cool for a few minutes before slicing it into portions. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
