Homemade Dinner Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

Instructions:

  1. Activate the Yeast:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
    • Add the melted butter and egg to the yeast mixture and mix well.
    • Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
    • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  3. First Rise:
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  4. Shape the Rolls:
    • Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
    • Shape each piece into a smooth ball by pulling the dough and tucking it underneath, creating a smooth top.
    • Place the dough balls in a greased baking pan, leaving a little space between each roll.
  5. Second Rise:
    • Cover the pan with a damp cloth and let the rolls rise again in a warm place for about 30-45 minutes until they are puffy and touching each other.
  6. Bake the Rolls:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown on top.
  7. Serve:
    • Remove the rolls from the oven and brush them with melted butter while they are still warm.
    • Serve the rolls warm and enjoy!

These soft and fluffy dinner rolls are perfect for any meal and can be enjoyed with butter or used for sandwiches. Enjoy your homemade dinner rolls!
