Homemade Ferrero Rocher Style Truffles Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup hazelnuts, toasted and peeled
  • 1/2 cup Nutella or any hazelnut spread

For the Chocolate Coating:

  • 200g (about 7 oz) milk chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup crushed hazelnuts or crushed wafer cookies (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Filling:
    • Place the hazelnuts in a food processor and pulse until finely ground.
    • Transfer to a bowl and mix with the Nutella until well combined.
    • Scoop small amounts of the mixture and form into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter). You can place a whole hazelnut in the center of each ball if desired.
    • Place the balls on a lined baking sheet and freeze for about 15-20 minutes to firm up.
  2. Prepare the Chocolate Coating:
    • While the filling is chilling, melt the milk chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water, stirring until smooth. Alternatively, you can melt it in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between.
    • Remove the filling balls from the freezer. If you like, roll each ball in crushed hazelnuts or wafer cookies for added texture.
    • Dip each ball in the melted chocolate, ensuring it is completely coated. Use a fork to lift the ball out of the chocolate, allowing any excess to drip off.
    • Place the coated truffles back on the lined baking sheet.
  3. Set the Truffles:
    • Once all the balls are coated, place the baking sheet in the refrigerator to allow the chocolate to set, about 10-15 minutes.
  4. Serve:
    • Once set, the truffles are ready to be enjoyed! Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

These homemade chocolate hazelnut truffles are rich, creamy, and have a delightful crunch, making them a perfect treat for special occasions or as a homemade gift. Enjoy!
