Philly Cheesesteak Casserole
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef or thinly sliced steak (such as ribeye)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large onion, diced
- 1 large green bell pepper, diced
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups shredded provolone cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 3 large eggs
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Cook the Meat and Vegetables:
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef or thinly sliced steak and cook until browned. Remove the meat from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the diced onion, green bell pepper, mushrooms, and garlic. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- Combine Ingredients:
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Add Worcestershire sauce and stir to combine. Remove from heat.
- Prepare the Cream Mixture:
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the heavy cream and eggs, and whisk until fully combined.
- Assemble the Casserole:
- Spread the beef and vegetable mixture evenly in the greased baking dish.
- Pour the cream cheese mixture over the beef and vegetables, spreading it out evenly.
- Sprinkle the shredded provolone and mozzarella cheese over the top.
- Bake the Casserole:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the cheese is melted and golden brown.
- Serve:
- Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving. Slice into squares and enjoy this cheesy, hearty dish.
