Pizza Grilled Cheese Sandwich

 

 

 

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of bread (white or whole-grain)
  • 4 slices of mozzarella cheese (or 1 cup shredded mozzarella)
  • 8 slices of pepperoni (or your preferred toppings)
  • 4 tablespoons pizza sauce (or marinara sauce)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning or dried oregano
  • Optional: grated Parmesan cheese for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Bread:
    • Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
    • Sprinkle the buttered sides with a pinch of Italian seasoning for added flavor.
  2. Assemble the Sandwich:
    • Place the unbuttered side of a bread slice facing up.
    • Spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce over the bread.
    • Add 2 slices of mozzarella cheese (or a generous handful of shredded cheese).
    • Layer 4 slices of pepperoni (or your favorite pizza toppings) on top of the cheese.
    • Top with another slice of bread, buttered side facing out.
  3. Cook the Sandwich:
    • Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium heat.
    • Place the sandwich on the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese has melted.
  4. Serve:
    • Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
    • Slice diagonally and serve hot. Optionally, garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of Italian seasoning.
  5. Optional Dipping Sauce:
    • Serve with a side of warm pizza sauce or marinara for dipping.
