Potato Rosti Rolls

 

 

Ingredients:

  • 4 large potatoes, peeled
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 100g cheddar cheese, grated (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, finely chopped (for garnish)
  • Oil for frying or butter for baking

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Potatoes: Grate the potatoes and place them in a clean cloth. Squeeze out as much moisture as possible to ensure they get crispy when cooked.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a bowl, mix the grated potatoes with the egg, flour, salt, and pepper. Add grated cheese if you like for extra flavor and richness.
  3. Form Rolls: Take a portion of the mixture and shape it into a log or roll. Repeat until all the mixture is used.
  4. Cook:
    • For frying: Heat oil in a pan and fry each roll until golden and crispy on all sides.
    • For baking: Place rolls on a greased baking sheet, brush with melted butter, and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for about 20-25 minutes or until crispy and golden.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving. Serve hot with a dipping sauce of your choice, such as sour cream or a garlic aioli.
